well this should be interesting
A new bill to reduce gun violence aims to hit would-be weapons buyers where it hurts — in the wallet.
U.S. Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez is introducing a bill that would slap every gun sale with a $100 tax, and then use the extra money on anti-violence and mental health programs.
She announced the new legislation — which will be introduced to Congress later this week — at City Hall on Monday alongside key supporters, including U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.
Jeffries will co-sponsor the bill, which also includes provisions that would require all gun owners to report any stolen weapons within 48 hours.

...it never stops...seems like the big time for legislation is January when the new politicians are sworn in and they want to make a name for themselves...some politicians will do it anytime in order to get votes from the anti-gun movement.
...guns are plentiful now and ammo is back on the shelves...buy it when you can get it...as for ammo--buy it cheap and stack it deep and get reloading.
Every couple of years or so there seems to be a 'threat' of sweeping change against lawful gun owners and there is rush of buying.
One of the worst examples is what happened in NY state regarding sweeping gun law changes...many people around the country laugh at what happened there...granted NY is so liberal (NYcity and Long Island have the vast majority of population that impacts the whole state)...reality is that there are other States looking to emulate what NY did...not saying it will happen, but every loss of a gun right and every added restrictions makes it easy for the next person/state/whatever to do it again.
...again...buy it while you can get it...
