I don't own any guns, but would like to buy a couple before we move out to the country.
I can't help but notice the news stories about loonies shooting people. Of course this puts people into "take the guns" mode.
Do you think new laws will be passed to make it even harder to obtain guns/ammo?
How long before gun bans start sprouting up like wildfire in different counties and different states?

I really don't think it can happen. They may make them much, much harder to get, or try and regulate the ammo (which they have been trying) but an outright ban just won't fly. The right to bear arms was the 2nd amendment the framers wrote into the constitution for a reason, it's the only protection the common people have against the rise of a tyrannical and corrupt government. The people just won't tolerate an outright ban, which is why the anti-gun crowd attempts massive amounts of restrictions to limits, but not deny the citizen's ability to obtain a firearm (i.e. California, New Jersey, etc.)
I agree with Danger, what I do think you will see is a increase in prices as fear driven consumers will cause a shortage same as during the 2008 election. With that being said, the talking heads have been saying Obama is waiting for a second term to push through gun legislation, so I guess we will have to wait and see how the election comes out.

I think in many ways they already are. Many states make it very difficult or nearly impossible to own firearms. Also there is no distinction between violent and non-violent felony convictions for driving or other seemingly minor offences causing a prohibition against gun ownership. The absolute most minor of threats, mischief or assaults between domestic partners will prohibit firearm ownership. If you ever encountered a onetime mental breakdown based on influences outside of your control, under the right non-violent circumstances that could bar you from firearm ownership. I would be interested in knowing what percentage of the population is already prohibited from firearm ownership?

The price of firearms are dropping in some areas which is good news for the customer. The bad news is that people still can't afford them. I can buy a brand new Mossberg rifle in a popular caliber here for under $300. I just don't have $300.
The UN is trying to take away and disarm the US. Obama said that he would sign the treaty that would make just about every gun in private ownership illegal. And to make matters worse our constitution says that we have to abide by all treaties that we ratify. The UN pass the the treaty, the Congress did not ratify it. (Rumor: I heard that Obama mentioned something about using the Executive Orders to bypass the Congress but I have not seen this come to pass)
A distant relative just bought a Savage in 338 for $300 with a scope attached, brand new off the shelf at a local store. I am never around when these deals go down or I have no money.

If I'm forced to vote for Romney over this I will literally sh*t myself
The NRA has been lining pockets for decades, nobody is taking the guns. Obama has to say and "do" a lot of this stuff to appease the blind idiots in his camp, and thats where it ends imo.
LOL @ having to vote for Romney. It would be a cold day in hell before he got my vote. I dont care who he is up against.
