what are your thoughts on this vid? is this normal procedure, I understand being called about a person with a firearm, but once that person identifies themself, then to demand the ID of every other person with them? then to ask if the person with a passport, if that's all the ID they have? My understanding is it's the only way to get in or out of the country

douchey. untrained. needs legal in-service. non tactics having...

the officer(s) had no idea of what to do with them. hard attitude buys you a lot with a lot of people as evidenced here. continual ID demands is a robotic reaction (and a stall maneuver). when finally asked if a crime was being committed he kept saying that he's trying to figure that out.

we used to get calls for service all the time about man with a gun...we used to badger the hell out of the dispatchers by continually asking, "whats he doing?" they would answer with "buying lunch", "walking down the street" and we would politely tell the dispatcher that wasn't illegal and to tell the citizen caller as such.

the long story short is that this will go on and on until people start prosecuting officers, their departments and counties/cities. if you tell the officer to f off and unless you are under arrest then you've got nothing to say. there is a good chance he/she will falsely arrest you...contempt of cop gets many rookies and vets in the fry every day across the nation.

i'm surprised more 2A advocate groups have not taken to setting up the responding officer with the intention of capturing him committing a crime and then litigating every time. the academies used to show us a training vid to all newbies a long time ago. there were these three men (all minorities) that traveled from town to town. one would hang out in a well lit area like next to an all night convenience store. the other two would set up in a van in the lot with a video recorder and a scanner. when someone called in the "suspicious person" that was breaking absolutely no laws whatsoever an officer would respond. well, they would signal the male that was hanging around and when the officer arrived the guy would just take off running. 99% of the time they got the officer to give chase, tackle and cuff the runner. on one such occasion they tackled the runner through a plate glass window. his cohorts caught it all on tape. it was a HUGE payday because of the felonious assault + the civil rights violation. this could easily be applied here.

And the monkey presses the button.

wow at that last story, I wonder if that's on youtube

I think the one person gave a very reasonable response, I check the door for signage to see if they disallow carrying in their place of business
