Maybe not the same but he would be calling for "changes". He bragged about MA gun laws in the debates and how great they are.... and that state has terrible gun laws.

This whole clip makes Romney look like a fool. But 2:12 is the part that gets me.

But they both just deflect and take it down some talking point, sunshine and rainbows path.

I highly doubt that an executive order to grab guns would gain traction anywhere outside of already highly restrictive states or counties (New York, New Jersey, Cooke County IL, etc.) I just cant see the sherrif of Ada county in Idaho even wanting to go door to door to registered CCW permit holders/ gun owners. It would be nearly every door in the county, with more than a few holding to possibility of getting ugly.

Scare tactics would come first. ie. if we catch you carrying or possessing it will be a mandatory sentence of.....

And people will say, "I'm going to carry because the 2nd amendment says..." Without realizing how much money it will cost in legal fees and time off work to defend yourself.

And the monkey presses the button.

The new rumor I heard today is a Federal background check for all gun sales that would take 90 days to complete. I know no ones knows at this point what they are going to do but this one could be imposed.

I stand by what I posted earlier, tougher background check, limited mag capicity and some type of assault weapons ban(it wont stop sales of assault weapons as companies will just change something to fall under the ban).

NRA said today they are ready to spend whatever amount of money that is needed to uphold the 2nd Amendment. You are about to see allot of money being thrown around by them in some type of Pro Gun Campaign.

This has already started and why many people are reporting everything being sold out

Before people start screaming background checks they should ask someone who actually performed them. There are different codes that have to be entered into the system that describe the puropse of the inquiry. When the purpose allowed for it, i ran persons under two codes as one allegedly would indicate if there were mental health records on file. This is also the code used for when firearms were being purchased. In the hundreds and hundreds ran, i never encountered one single mental health record response. Not one. Why do you think that is?

Now, with the work i do currently, i can tell you the mental health medical field cares more about patient confidentiality and the patient/provider relationship than they do about you, your family, or society. Psychiatry is a soft "science". Treatment modalities are varried, often medication dependent, and there is little oversight.....which is not by accident. The only way background checks will work as an effective deterrent is regulations requiring mental health professionals to be FORCED to report treatment.

So..you say now people wont get treatment because they will be treated differently. The answer is yes, they will be treated differently...which is what background checks are for. There should be an appeals process for it. For example, two doctors must sign off to allow firearm ownership. You say, but moro, no doctor is gonna be willing to do that. A lot of docs have their own political agenda and they dont wanna get sued. I say good....but they already do something similar with drivers licenses and vehicles. I stop an elderly person who obviously cant see or hear. I fill out a little blue peice o paper that goes to dmv which requires a doctor to sign off that they meet the requirement to drive.

And the monkey presses the button.
