Lets say I wanted to build a place to secure my valuable from prying eyes. Like under an outbuilding. How can I build a, say, 4'X4'X2' area that would keep things from rusting or other wise coroding?

What would I need to do to keep it clean & most importantly dry?

Is the building already up? Are you planning on building your cache then constructing the building around it? What kind of budget are you working with (there's lots of ways to go with something like this in my limited experience, so the answer you're looking for will count on a lot of these variables).

Nah don't do that. Can you move the shed? or pull up the floor? Any way you want to look at it you're going to have to do some digging. If you want to make it easy (and relatively cheap) for yourself you can just dig a hole and drop one of those new, steel 55 gallon drums in there. Just bury it with about a foot covering the lid to keep it under the frost line. The thing you need to take into consideration with this is the water table. If your water table is high, or has potential to rise to the level of your cache it's gonna flood no matter what you do. If you think your table is too low for a drum, you're probably better off building something more shallow. More like a root cellar type of deal using concrete.
