Do you meet in public for transactions? I know some police departments offer their locations for them, something to think about.

One man is dead after a Colorado homeowner selling an item on Craigslist was tied up during a home invasion, got free, grabbed a gun and shot a suspect.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says two men went to the home Sunday in response to the ad, but overpowered the homeowner and tied him up.

I've only bought on Craigslist, I dont know how I would feel about selling and having someone come to my home.

I still argue with the wife about her wanting to have a garage sale, lol.

I did get a creepy feeling once when I bought a chipper/mulcher from some guy, but there was no incident.  Im suspicious by nature, so maybe it was just me.

I've done both.  Craigslist people are sketchy.  I bought my last car off craigslist and met the guy at a police station to get the title and give the cash.  It was his idea, and I didn't have any problems with it.  Although I was a little more nervous of the police than I was of him.  I could just see my $3k being confiscated .

I have sold on CL.  I found that half of them were fine and the other half are jerks.

The jerks were very similar: aggressive, nearly confrontational, complainers about 'crazy price' I put on things...and they don't like to hear 'looks like we aren't going to be able to do business, I would like you to leave now'.

A few years ago a 'jerk' came to the farm to look at some turf tires I had for sale.  I talked to him on the phone, seemed okay...I was clear that I was firm on $350...The guy came out to look at the tires and told me how I was over priced and that he could get 2 new ones for $500 instead of $350 (the best price on new that I could find was $800 new) ...I said 'glad you found something you like better, now please leave'...he started telling me he hadn't explained everything to me yet...I looked over my left shoulder and into my barn...out came my two friends (always have back up)..He asked what was going on...we told him that all depended on his next move...he left.

Too many trouble makers out there.

Wow, I'm kind of glad my two transactions went smoothly. I felt bad for the guy who bought my case cause he blew a tire on his trailer coming from vermont to pick it up so I knocked 50 bucks off the price of it.

I had a set of brand new mounted snow tires I was selling one year.  The first guy came to look at them tried to dicker down a few dollars...No Joke..as soon as he said that snow flakes were gently falling...I just grinned...he handed over the full price.
