I buy and sell on CL

if the item is large I have the buyer come to the house. I try to weed out the losers on the phone, before i give them my address.

I have been collecting stuff from the free section lately. you would be amazed at some of the stuff people just give away. I probably visit the free link about 6-8 times per day looking for good stuff.

One day a cabinet shop posted some kitchen cabinets for free. apparently they had just done a remodel on someone's house and removed their cabinets and put new ones in.

I took the truck and my son over there asap, to have a look. the cabinets were all very nice condition.

so I grabbed a bunch and came back 2 more times and grabbed more.

I waited a week and then posted them on CL for $1000.00. had a few low ballers and tire kickers come over, but finally sold them for 800.

  Was like hitting the lottery.

Nice haul, only thing that ever seems to be in the free section up here is 20 year old tv's, broken washing machines and used mattresses. Someone could make some decent side change refurbishing the washing machines and selling them cheap I guess.

We used to have a retired gentleman here that did that, he would fix them and repaint them, could get a fridge or washer/dryer for 100-150 dollars. Was great if you owned apartments or just starting out.
