As I have said before, carrying only a firearm if cc or oc and thinking you are prepared is like competing in a triathlon and only showing up with a speedo. If I am carrying a firearm, I also have an edged weapon and OC spray. The firearm for obvious reasons, the edged weapon because not every lethal force encounter presents itself ideal to a gun fight and the OC spray because not every encounter calls for a lethal response. Most important of all is intimate knowledge in the expert use of all three.

**Edit** In reading back over this post it occurred to me that my acronyms could be confused. OC for open carry and OC spray for Oleoresin Capsicum Spray or commercially known as Mace. Sorry if anyone was confused by that.

I will hopefully be going in to get mine in the next week :) I agree rinkus I usually have a bushcraft blade on me and do not think I will stop carrying it when I get my permit.

Believe me, this is not a decision I am making lightly. having the appropriate holster, training, and mindset are paramount. One might add that a recording device, and legal reference literature are also necessary. I like cc, but concealing my Glock 23 is more tricky in the summer. I don't know yet if I would carry to an event or venue that Rinkus describes. I honestly don't like violence, and really would not like to hurt someone that thought it would be funny to try and pull my gun from its holster. I don't plan to oc until I feel comfortable with my level of retention training, and awareness of my surroundings.
