so we have had issues with people going back our road and tearing it up doing mud runs and such. Plus we have had people dumping tires and crap back there. So Rinkus had asked all the land owners if we wanted to gate off the entrances. Only issue is our road is part of the snowmobile trail, so we will have to open the gates in the winter.
So Rinkus had some posts made up out of piping and rims
we were concerned with people not being able to see them, so Rinkus painted them bright orange
and hauled them down to the land
the other land owner brought down his excavator and made quick work out of digging the holes
unfortunately they hit ledge 3 or 4 feet down, so they couldn't be buried as deep as we wanted
Rinkus scored some steel cable from a towing company and after stretching it out over night we ran it throw some orange pex tubing. We also had to drop a log on the right so they don't go around the gate. The neighbor is going to drop 6 yards of gravel right around there to bring the ground up some, I think it came out pretty good

Its been a long time coming KE. People with no respect for others property forces this. Every time I go out there I come back with discarded litter, my son and I have made a game out of it. Thats nothing considering all the tires, TVs, roofing shingles, furniture, someone even left a dead calf out there one time. Now that we are making a serious attempt at improving the road we had no choice but to close it off. Meatheads with trucks and ATVs have ruined it. With the exception of near my home, I have no problem with anyone recreating on my land as long as they leave it the way they found it. We need to get the rest of the gates up soon, as we had some jerk with an ATV ride through one of the hay fields yesterday. I suspect he has no idea how lucky he is I didnt catch him.

Are you sure that wasn't KVR on his new ATV testing the winch out? Kidding!
I hate trespassing, too. Thankfully we really don't have a problem with that.
Have you thought of putting a trail camera up high in a tree to catch license plate numbers?
