Description
Quick overview of my cheap plinker Remington integral 597. Started life as a stock 597-AACSD(16" heavy barrel threaded). After Form 1 was approved and recevied, it was cuttin' time! Baffle "chambers" are 5/8" holes with 1/4" "port" holes alternating each side. Next up was the tube; Sourced a grade 9 Ti (1" O.D. / 0.088" Wall) which slipped over the stock barrel like a glove. Cut to length and topped off with a generic thread protector(sanded down to same OD as tube). The barrel was turned down on a lathe and ported with 2 1/8" holes. This way I can shoot bulk .22lr ammo and still stay subsonic! The forend inside channel needed to be sanded down to accommodate the larger tube. Last, painted it with Brownells Alumahyde for a stealth look. Best part is the total cost!:597-AACSD: $200 * F1 Stamp:$200 * Ti Tube:$50 * Thread Pro.$20 * Paint:$30 * TOTAL: $500 PS, it's pretty darn Quiet;)
