LEWISTON (WGME) -- Governor Paul LePage is taking aim at drug dealers in Maine.
"Everybody in Maine, we have Constitutional Carry. Load up and get rid of the drug dealers,” Gov. LePage said.
A day after suggesting Maine should bring back public executions and "guillotines" to get rid of drug dealers, Wednesday brought more tough talk, but he denies he's encouraging vigilante justice.
"Where's the outrage? Let's get mad. Let's stop it,” Gov. LePage said.
Gov. LePage has been doing a lot of talking the past two days about harsher penalties for out-of-state drug dealers.
"Would you like to see the death penalty for drug dealers?" CBS 13 Reporter Brad Rogers asked.
"Yes, absolutely,” Gov. LePage replied.
On Tuesday, the governor joked about public executions with a guillotine. "What I think we ought to do is bring the guillotine back,” Gov. LePage said. "It was a joke, yes."
Mike Shapiro says he got the joke. "I absolutely love the guillotine statement,” Shapiro said. “I thought that was, you know, for him it was cute. He meant it as being cute. But I don't want to expound any more on that."
But Bates College student Anabel Carter isn't laughing. "Drug dealers should be punished as other people are,” Carter said.
On Wednesday, the governor took his tough talk a step further.
"Everybody in Maine, we have constitutional carry. Load up and get rid of the drug dealers,” Gov. LePage said. “Because folks, they're killing our kids."
"Governor, you're not suggesting a vigilante type of justice here?" a reporter asked.
"No sir," Gov. LePage replied.

Heroine and Meth are bad here...some Spike and tons of Weed...ETOH as well...etc..
And the prescribed Meds are no better and just as damaging.
All kinds of crap come with this stuff, lives are ruined, families torn apart, people dead, on and on.
Worked in Substance/Chemical Dependency for a lot of years...very few make it...just nasty and heart breaking.
Even if the Pharmaceutical and MD's were regulated more...the street drugs would just back fill the demand.
...In the end it's all about choices.

The hospitals are trying to get better at things... The big one here won't let you leave with a script for Narcotics till you get counseled, read a pamphlet, what a quick video, take a quiz and get a help line number...No word on how effective it is yet...if at any time they think you are just BSing your way through it then your done and don't get the script...at least that is how it is supposed to work.
