...but if you get free practice ammo...hmmm...

Or an AR . . .or a squad car  . . .  damn, it's sounding better and better.

Some footage from KVR's house of him contemplating his decision.

Well went and sat down with the chief yesterday, it's a pretty long and detailed process. The state changed the requirements for part time officers a couple years ago and now it's basically the same training as full time without the academy.

First step is to take to alert test which is basically the asvab for LEO

Second step is physical test

Third step is a 40 hour online course followed by a test

Fourth step is a 80 hour classroom setting

Fifth step is polygraph and psychological test

Sixth step is 80 hours of ride along with the Chief, Lt or Sgt

After that I would be able to patrol on my own, there are restrictions since part time do not attend the 28 week academy, no high speed chases, etc.

Does anyone else think it's backwards that you put in 120 hour THEN you take the polygraph and psych test??

...by being a LEO, you become part of the government.

Everything up to that point is paid by the person, the pds pay for the polygraph and psych which can be costly, so they wait to make sure you completed and passed the first steps before they invest that money.

Still backwards imo.  I'd be furious if I put in the 120 hours (especially if it was my dime) and then failed the psych test.
