BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) – Organizers of an event that encouraged fans to bring their guns to a summer league baseball game in Michigan say they have received no reports of trouble.
“2nd Amendment Education Night” was held Friday at C.O. Brown Stadium as the Battle Creek Bombers hosted the Rochester (Minnesota) Honkers.
Bombers general manager Tony Iovieno says there were no security problems among the crowd that included many with holstered guns.
Fans say they were OK with the event and trusted those carrying guns.
Iovieno says he isn’t sure if the team will do it again next season.
The event was designed to promote gun safety and showcase Freedom Firearms, the area business that sponsored the event.
The team is part of the Northwoods League, which is composed of college players.
