Don't need to, but I tried some CCI Quiets (710fps) -- they were extremely "quiet" but wouldn't cycle the action which is to be expected. Pistol barrels that are less than 4" basically keep any 22LR ammo subsonic, so special subsonic ammo isn't needed. When shooting a rifle you need subsonic ammo because the barrel is long enough to let them get up to full velocity.
