Thank you for contacting me with your views and concerns on the number

of bills dealing with gun regulations that have been recently introduced

as a result of the killings in Newton, Connecticut.

As a nation, we must look at, not only guns, but improving our mental

health system, and we have to somehow push back at the acceptance of

such violence in our society.

As you might already know, New Jersey gun laws are already the second

strongest in the nation (behind only California) according to the Brady

Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

I believe that government, both on the state and national level, must

come up with a comprehensive solution to the problems we face with

increased violence in our society. I believe it would be a mistake to

focus solely on new gun legislation without looking at all facets that

led to this tragedy. Thank you for writing and I hope you will continue

to contact me on other issues of importance to you and your family.
