Good for them for not caving
A new gun law proponents say helps law enforcement has driven Smith & Wesson and Sturm Ruger out of California, and affirmed the suspicions of firearms rights advocates that the measure is really about making handguns obsolete.
The two companies have announced they will stop selling their wares in the nation's most populous state rather than try to comply with a law that requires some handguns to have technology that imprints a tiny stamp on the bullet so it can be traced back to the gun. The companies, and many gun enthusiasts, say so-called "microstamping" technology is unworkable in its present form and can actually impair a gun's performance.
Smith & Wesson does not and will not include microstamping in its firearms, the Springfield, Mass.,-based manufacturer said in a statement. A number of studies have indicated that microstamping is unreliable, serves no safety purpose, is cost prohibitive and, most importantly, is not proven to aid in preventing or solving crimes.

remember when there was a proposal to stamp ammo...every round and case. why did it fail? the answer is economics.
the state can only keep order through use of force. force eventually comes down to people with loaded guns.
refusing to comply and provide the state with the means (firearms and ammunition) to carry out their laws and edicts is not the key to breaking the gun manufacturing industry. it is a precursor to political/social reform.
American greed is what breaks an industry.
the problem with an American business refusing to take a buck is that it will decrease revenue for their company on a temporary basis. the ceo answers to the board and the board to the stockholders AND American stockholders (and politicians and voters)are short sighted greed driven monkeys who cry foul at the loss of a penny. they make a moral stand very costly for any ceo or company on several levels
Say smith and wesson and ruger refuse to comply. What are the odds that some other short sighted greed driven company will rush in to fill the need cause they smell a buck? 100% i'd guess.
Even if every American gum and ammo manufacturer held fast to their principles and refused to send even one round to CA...yes, panic ensues as shortages increase and eventually it would effect their leos but we all know it will never get that far.
CA would go crying to uncle sam. Uncle sam would step in and force compliance. even if uncle sam couldn't respond quickly enough, we are a global economy now and some third world cesspool that cant spell Constitution will gladly sell arms and ammo to California.
And the monkey presses the button.
