From everything I have read about the men that drafted the constitution, this seems to be exactly correct. Unfortunately the militaries arsenal has far outpaced what would be possible for citizens. Luckily, the military is made up of citizens, hopefully at least half of them have the ability to remember that they swore to defend and uphold the Constitution and not the sitting president or any political party.
