I have a 65# female lab and there would be a whole lot of barking.  I wouldn't expect her to do much more, but based on what I've seen when visitors come over, she wouldn't be happy and she'd let the neighborhood know it.

One irresponsible bad fact: They said any dog can be trained to protect the house. That's not true. Protection dogs need training, but not all dogs have the natural temperament to to be protection dogs and no amount of training will work without the right temperament.
