Good MORNING! I left Washington DC metro area in 2013 and moved to a log cabin on ~ 5 acres in Northern Minnesota. I was a complete novice, and in very bad health. I thought a little garden would help. Now I find myself a very healthy and energetic 64 year old woman with chickens, cows, and sheep... but not enough land to sustain what I have and I still want horses.
Every inch of this homestead has been refined and streamlined. New fences with drive through tarten gates to access a 4 acre pasture and a 1/3 acre paddock. Hydrant and electricity to the main pasture. Pole barn gated on two sides. Plus, a 16X24 survival cabin with wood burning stove. 1000 sq ft garden that has been improved every year with clean black dirt and well composted manure...no chemicals.
My local real estate agent is going to list it as a rural home, and says the improvements will not add much to the selling price. Maybe. But I am thinking a potential homesteader would make the ideal buyer. How would you advertise to reach the right potential audience?
Oh, and I am not leaving the area or the lifestyle. I have my eye on a 40 acre Amish farm. I will be probably be posting questions later on how to wire an Amish house.
I am not trying to unfairly profit, but I feel if I stop moving forward I will slide back. This is a very nice turn-key propertywith beauty on all sides Thank you for any advice.
Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
God bless
