honest answer though, to create a place for people to communicate and share ideas about getting to a simpler way of life. We had been documenting a lot of our projects and things we do on several different sites and wanted a better way to be able to control it, so this site was a natural progression

Honest answer here, I am looking for a peaceful place of doers. A place where I won't be pressured to buy products.

I've never asked anyone here to buy anything or support the site financially in any way, at this point in time have no real plans to either.
If anything we give quite a bit of stuff away. A couple of the advertisers I set up with members discounts for advertising here, my biggest focus is building the community here.
Obviously at some point the site needs to become self supporting, we are looking at different things for that, we are looking to start a small store, if people want to buy from it great, if not great, I get turned off very quickly by sites that have a ad every other word.

Big Sky- NOBODY is going to try to sell any products or points of view here. If that was the case, I wouldn't be here either.
Many of us here got to know KVR & each other from a buried subforum on an "other" forum. We all shared an interest in trying to simplify our lives and to find creative & sustainable ways of providing for our families no matter what. You will find alot of different approaches to the same questions, people who are acheiving self sufficiency, and people who are almost ready to start trying it for the first time. And jokes about zombies & egg laying pigs. One of the things I always appreciated about KVRs approach is that he has painstakingly documented his success stories, but also his glorius failures. There is alot of knowledge & alot of fun to be found here.
As far as I have seen, anyone even attempting to spam the site has been swiftly dealt with.
