My husband and I are purchasing 9 acres here in Alaska. We won't be able to move onto the property until early 2015, but are able to start prepping the land this summer. We're hoping to start with a garden and some chickens and maybe a cow or goat. We're beginners, but usually pick up on things rather quickly. Leading a more self-sufficient life has been our big life goal and we are extremely excited to get started.
Looking forward to learning from you all!

So do you currently live in AK? Where? And how far is your property? Got any pictures?
Welcome aboard... I guess I should have started with that.

We will be building a small cabin. We're transplants....but have recently reached that official "Alaskan" status that comes with 5 years of residency haha Thanks for the welcome!

I was a grammar nazi in my past life Yes, we live in Palmer and the property is only 1/2 a mile from where we currently live. That'll make prepping the land fairly easy. I don't have any photos yet. It's not much to look at yet, anyway. Very wooded. Thanks for the welcome!
