That's what we are working on trying to figure out. We are hoping to build something minimal and temporary to start with - to get out of our current living situation - and then start building our permanent home as we go. Right now we are pricing material for a standard 20 x 24 or 20 x 20 cabin for our starter.

We really wanted to build a cluster of earth-sheltered, earth-bag domes, but don't know that it will work on the property that we ended up with. We shall see.

sounds like you and earthenstead have the same ideas for a shelter, just in totally opposite environments, we used earthbags in our barn and it has held up well in snow, cold and rain here in Maine, we went with a cement coating instead of earthen though because of it
