 if you want to mention someone just hit the type @ and a pop up screen should populate usernames as you type their name, just pick the one you want, the person will get an e-mail when they are notified, this can be disabled through your profile settings so that you just get a notice when you log in.

Same with subscriptions, if you subscribe to a thread at the bottom of the post you will get notified when anyone posts on the thread, this can be disabled in the profile settings as well so that you just get notified at the top when you log in. There is a subscription button at the top that will show you all your subscribed threads.

You can also upload pictures directly here by clicking the attachments button, but you use IOS, safari does not play well with that so you would want to use mercury browser to utilize that. Picks can be no larger than 800x600 though iirc which may be difficult for downsizing them on a phone.
