Originally I grew up just out side St. Louis Missouri, joined the military and some twenty years later found myself in South Carolina. I pretty much believe I will spend the rest of my days here. I like it, little country towns, farms, and plenty of baseball. Since I have given the best part of my life to the Army,( specifically The 7th Special Forces Group ) I find that skulking around as a sales associate at Home Depot a lot of fun. Beyond that, I am not worried about the end of times. I just like being self sufficient, always have. I love to see what others are coming up with, I like your website and hope to be able to contribute to it as well as learn from it. Thanks.
Welcome Sir, thank-you for your service and the kind words. Glad to have you here.
Hi we are from Oregon were we are just starting out on our homestead. I have recently started a web site showing our progress and struggles feel free to stop by and please let me know if you see something we could do better or easier. http://www.homestead.....ewbies.com. We have started from bare land and are hoping to not only be selfsufficent someday but also as off grid as we can be.
Hi all. This communal intro thread is handy, because I feel awkward posting introduction threads. I'm one half of a couple in Southern Ontario, Canada. Once our house sells we'll be in a rapid off the grid transition, probably in a province we've never set foot in. We're only taking what we can fit in the truck. I am not sure if we'll even have land bought before we set out. I think it took my family in the States about 3 months to determine we haven't lost our minds; that, or they got better at hiding their feelings. ~Rach
