Hey from NC,

I'm a 30 year old father of four (girls). I've always dreamed about living off in the woods somewhere. As a child I spent my time in the swamps and woods of Southeastern NC. I'm the son of a commercial fisherman and boat builder. My father, brothers, grandfather, uncles, and great uncle were once some of the most famous, if not infamous, wooden boat builders on the east coast. The tradition has continued, skipping myself, though the market for such things has not. I've worked as a commercial fisherman and crewed a headboat or two in my day but making a living at it is all but impossible nowadays.

I've also worked as a sales supervisor for a national bank. I co-founded our local humane society in my youth and continued my work with animals into adulthood. I managed a local shelter, under contract with the county. I also served as the aggressive animal specialist, trainer, and worked heavily in behavior modification. 

Over the last decade I've researched alternative architecture, livestock breeds and types, sustainability technologies, and other helpful subjects for the purposes of homesteading. My wife and I are now truly ready to begin the process. Now we're excited to learn all the skills we'll need and get some input on just where the heck we should end up. lol.
