Good job chief!
IRVING — Ahmed Mohamed — who makes his own radios and repairs his own go-kart — hoped to impress his teachers when he brought a homemade clock to MacArthur High on Monday.
Instead, the school phoned police about Ahmed’s circuit-stuffed pencil case.
So the 14-year-old missed the student council meeting and took a trip in handcuffs to juvenile detention. His clock now sits in an evidence room. Police say they may yet charge him with making a hoax bomb — though they acknowledge he told everyone who would listen that it’s a clock.
nice
Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It's what makes America great.

And then more stupid...
@rynhunty@POTUS Here is Ahmed's "clock." Remember the pressure cookers at the Boston Marathon?
Yes. People DO remember the pressure cookers cause for one, a pressure cooker bomb NEEDS A PRESSURE COOKER. Where's the explosive? Where's the ingnition mechanism? Where's the shrapnel? You know, the stuff that does the most damage? Like ball barings, hex nuts, washers, nails, etc?
I see a circuit board in a box. You know what else fits that description? EVERY COMPUTER VIEWING YOUR DUMB POST. Arrest the stupid woman, her computer is really a bomb... at least arrest her for being epically stupid! ...Hmmm, on that note, arrest the teachers, school admins, and police officers responsible for this poor kid's ordeal. Okay, so there's no law to arrest them under... that too is stupid.
the kid is getting offers from everybody, facebook, spacecamp

I fully expect a full ride to MIT by the end of the week
Hi @IStandWithAhmed ! I'd love you to join us for our science show Generator in Toronto on 28 Oct. There's a ticket waiting for you.

I know this is going to come off as racist, etc., but I really wonder if there's more to this story than we're hearing? The school resource officer says "Yep, it's who I thought it was"?
Another reason I say this. Remember a year or two ago, a boy was suspended for eating a poptart into the shape of a gun at school? Well that school is in the same district that my wife works in. My wife knew one of the teachers there, who knew the boy well. She said it was totally warranted. On the surface these stories sound sensational, but when you dig a little deeper, there's usually more to it. Just like the infamous McDonald's Coffee suit. When you read the headline (which is what most people seem to do), it sounds ludicrous that a woman would be awarded so much money for spilling hot coffee on her self. But the facts were that she had 3rd degree burns from it that required numerous skin grafts. That the serving temp of the coffee was in the 200 degree range, and that McDonald's had been warned about it and had similar issues on numerous occasions.
