If you haven't seen it...Second Hand Lion's...is a movie I think a lot of us would enjoy...it is one of my few go-to movies that we still enjoy.
I have been called 'Hub McCann' a few times...just not quite as gruff...and much better looking.

Okay, I really REALLY like that quote.
I've always been an idealist at heart. Incidentally, I do my best to live by much of the quote. (I have a personal code.) Unfortunately, the one I've been given cause to struggle with the most is the "People are basically good" one. There was a time I genuinely believed that. Now I desperately want to be able to believe it, but I keep encountering far too many people who challenge it right to my core. To my core is the problem. It's a core value. My core values give my life meaning and purpose. I don't like how jaded a part of me has grown on the matter. Thankfully another of my core values always comes to the rescue: Never give in, always push back to maintain the ideals. Even with just a sliver left, its enough to reclaim ground and reassert my ideals in spite of those things that challenge them.

I hate to say it, but I guess in my old age I've become hardened and have forgotten to believe in almost all on that list. The only one that stays with me is the true love will never die.
