So my wife's mother had hip surgery 3 weeks ago and she flew down to help with recovery, she flew back this Saturday. We had booked the flight through expedia, confirmed her and everything was kosher.
Her sister drove her to the Philly airport in the morning since her flight was leaving at 11:15, she was supposed to land at 1.
So she gets to the counter and they tell her she was overbooked.
Say what?
So they started asking if people would be willing to bump for a 500 dollar voucher, no one would.
I asked my wife if they were going to give her the voucher since she was bumped and she said no.
Say What?
So they told her there was 2 pm flight that she would be on stand by and a 6:30 flight that she was guaranteed a seat.
2 pm flight was overbooked as well.
So she proceeded to the next gate.
They started loading at 6 pm.
Seems a light bulb was out so they got on another plane and she finally landed at 9 pm.
Upside though is that after talking to customer service they asked her if she wanted a 1300 dollar voucher or a 1100 dollar check, she took the check. I told her that's a good work day, you just got paid 150 dollars an hour to sit and read. She wasn't impressed.
Anyone else have issues at airports? This is the second time in a row where we have had issues with return flights. When we flew back from Vegas last year we were suppose to get back to Philly at like 5 pm and our flight was cancelled so we ended up on a later flight diverted through NJ and didn't get in till after midnight.
I told my wife I am going to start buying tickets for busy routes and purchase the insurance and see if I can get overbooked and get paid!
