I find this to be an absolute treasure.
Sean Thakrey is a wine-maker in Marin Cali.
Originally Sean was a book editor, then he and his wife opened a small Art Gallery that specialized in very old photographs. It was a small niche and he did very well.
In 1980 Sean bought a small house with a little yard. Paraphrasing an interview with him.... "I saw that I had a little yard, and thought I should grow something. Why not grapes? So I planted a few grape vines and when I grew grapes I thought I should do something with them, so I made wine."
His small hobby grew into an obsession. His early efforts were plagued with pests and diseases so he enrolled in some classes at UC Davis. He hated it, and dismisses scientific farming, grape growing, and wine making.
Sean turned to ancient texts. If it worked for them, it would work for him.
So, Sean went through the painstaking process of translating each all by himself, hand typing each out in a font that most closely resembles the font from the ancient text. It has turned into a lifetime's work, and according to Sean when I had the brief opportunity to say hello, he will be translating this until he expires.
Now.....
Sean could compile these, or publish as separate books and make a ton of cash.
What does he do?
