A homeowner's association in Missouri is under fire after denying building permits that would have helped the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant the request of a 6-year-old girl who is battling cancer.

Make-A-Wish contacted Ella Schultz recently, and she told them she wanted a miniature playhouse in her backyard.

JE Dunn Construction agreed to design and build the girl's dream play area, even agreeing to match the shingles used on the homes in the Stonegate neighborhood.

"It looks like an adorable miniature playhouse," Jennifer Schultz, Ella's mother, said.

But the homeowner's association said it wasn't allowed.

"The proposed plan they've given us is a violation of our covenants," association president Stacy Bayers said.

Bayers wouldn't comment further, saying the board wants to talk more about the decision.

Brett Greble, Ella's neighbor, said the board needs to reconsider. He said seeing a playhouse out his back window isn't a problem.

"No, I want to look out the window and see Ella happy," he said.

Hundreds of other people in the neighborhood agree, and they've put pressure on the association to reverse its decision.

Bayers said she was "not at liberty to discuss" whether or not the decision would be changed because of the intent of the proposed plans.

I think by the very nature of the people on this forum, a homeowners association wouldn't get any love from us.

I have a neighbor whose back yard is basically a salvage yard (minus the productive salvaging) but he built a privacy fence and he keeps the trash picked up since he and I had a talk, so I guess I can live with it.

Let me clarify-my sentence structure was unstructured.  The privacy fence was already in the process of being built.  We had a friendly chat about trash and vermin, he was appreciative that I was neighborly enough to talk to him about it like a gentleman.  And no, I wasn't wearing my gi.

Of course you weren't.  However, you were cleaning your gun.
