CIGAR BEETLES

Cigar beetles are actual bugs that can destroy your cigars and ruin your humidor. The best way to prevent them is to FREEZE every cigar that you plan on putting into your humidor. I've done extensive research on this and it does NOT damage your cigar or change the taste of it.

When I buy cigars, I put them in a ziploc bag (or leave them in the box if a boxed purchase) and put them into the freezer for 3 days. I then put them into the refrigerator for 12 hours - 1 day. Then I let them rest in room temp for a few hours before putting them into the humidor.

IF YOU SEE CIGAR BEETLES IN YOUR HUMIDOR -

Find the infected cigars and discard them immediately. Take all non infected cigars and use the freeze method stated above. Wipe down the humidor thoroughly with a damp cloth.

WHAT ARE CIGAR BEETLES?

They are small insects that hatch in warm / moist temperatures. They are somewhat rare, but sometimes their larva will end up in a cigar. You'll notice the cigar will have small pinholes in it where the beetles are destroying the cigar. Cigar makers put a lot of effort in preventing cigar beetles but they can't always get them.

I personally haven't had cigar beetles but I will take all precautions to prevent my cigars from getting ruined.

CIGAR MOLD

If your cigar has a white powdery substance on it, wipe it off and SMOKE AWAY!

If it has a bluish substance on it, cash that smoke, its blue mold. Smoking the cigar can make you sick.

Just found out a somewhat local cigar shop is having an Alec Bradley event this Thursday from 5pm - 9pm... Looks like I'll be checking that out for sure.

I work about a mile from a nice little cigar bar. Cool place. The problem is the smell. You can not get that smell out of your clothes. If you put them in your hamper it still smells.

Vapor: I hear you, it definitely does smell. It reminds me of the old cigarettes in the bars days, except cigar smoke doesn't bother me nearly as much.

I enjoy a good cigar from time to time. My local tobacco shop has a very limited supply of decent cigars. One of my favorite cheaper smokes at the moment is an Arturo Fuente Curly Head. It's a mild smoke that can be picked up for pretty cheap. It's not going to win any beauty contests, but it's a pleasant smoke for working around the yard or taking a break from fishing in my case.

All that said, I don't care for it's brother, the Curly Head Deluxe, it's a harsher cigar to me, and not a smooth as the regular curly head.
