Not sure if it's the right name or not, walmart has a x-mas tree out front for needy kids, you pick a child and then buy them something they listed. My wife and I have done it for years, this year I was a little discouraged. We went this morning and these are some of the things the kids wanted

9 year old boy TED DVD

12 year old boy IPAD dock

2 brothers WII U

a huge amount was playstation3 and x-box games

Am I wrong in my thinking? I'm thinking needy kids, I'm thinking like clothes, shoes, etc. A IPAD dock? Really? My wife only found one with clothes, and they wanted victoria secrets stuff, for a teenager, in walmart.

And where are the parents. who the hell would let a 9 year old kid put TED for a x-mas list. So we picked all the kids who wanted books and bought them 4 or 5 books each in the genre they liked, I like seeing a child expand their mind. It was a very disappointing day

I dont shop at Walmart. But, I have to think that they could do something to make this a bit more reasonable.

My company was sponsoring a needy family (single mom and her kid). She wanted gold jewelry and the kid wanted a PS3.

I make decent money, and people in my family don't get these things.

When it comes to helping people, I would rather help people I know. Mostly because I am skeptical that my money is going to the right place otherwise.

well, we went the other day and looked, not sure if it's the economy or the charity is getting better and monitoring what people are asking for, it was mostly all clothes, dolls, coloring books etc. So my wife and I picked four families.

There is a tree in our church building, The requests were all so humble I nearly cried. A gift card for gasoline, a puzzle, size 7 jeans. Wish I could furnish them all.
