I have never really seen or heard him except for like a 5 min interview on cnbc, never read his books, anyone follow his financial advice?

How has it worked out for you? What is the basics of his financial plan? it might help some members here who are looking to take control of their finances.

The only financial guru I have ever listened to is robert kiyosaki, I know he has his detractors and just went through bankruptcy, but if it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't be where I am today, the reason I am not making this about rich dad poor dad is with todays mortgage regulations it would be very difficult to do today what I did 10 years ago

Ramsey premise is about eliminating debt. Strategy is straight forward and designed for people who are willing to go to any length to be free financially (no debt of any kind).

His premise is solid and sensical. He does not provide motivation though.....

I've got a Dave Ramsey CD on mp3 I can send you, K. I listen to it when driving. What i took away from it was to set aside 1k for an emergency fund, then pay everything you have left towards your debt, repeat that cycle every month until debt free. Mostly he teaches that you have to learn what is truly an emergency that requires use of the emergency fund and what is really something u can do without. I took some good stuff from it but its a lot of common sense.

Along the same lines, I read the blog Mr. Money Mustache @ http://www.mrmoneymu.....tache.com/

He is all about cutting spending and saving heavily for early retirement. Even if early retirement is not a goal the minset of minimizing your expenses is helpful.

The entire blog history is worth a read, but if there was one post in summary to get the lay of the land I would suggest this one: http://www.mrmoneymu.....o-kickass/

The notes section in the chart of the middle class to kickass post has links to other articles outlining his approaches to those matters.
