I will send you some pics of my buddy's impala when he gets home from vacation. He rebuilt it from ground up. Think he just bought another one to redo. He does good work.

so

my wife flew back from PA yesterday, and my father picked her up at the airport. On the ride home he told her about the auction and looking for a impala, she saw how happy my father was talking about the 66,

today she told me to go buy it so my dad could tinker on it, might be picking this up tomorrow, I love that woman

The 65 for $2200 obo looks to be the best deal.

I have fixed up many, many cars. I've had 69 and 70 fastback mustangs, 1968 ss camaro, 1969 camaro, 1971 corvette, 1970 gto, a v8 monza and a v8 vega wagon.

The Impala you have chosen ( mid 60's and 4 door) will not hold it's value. This is why I suggest buying the 65 in the 2nd pic. It looks to be in great condition for it's age.

make sure you get up under it and look at the floors and frame for rust. I know you must know this as you are from the north and likely do that with every car you buy.

I would also suggest looking on ebay. You can find an Impala that has special options, like a big block or a 4 speed. These would hold more value and also be more fun to own.
