It would need to be created in the HTML, then made transparent with the CSS.

Ok I'm now seeing what you are doing and it's not entirely brilliant...

The cludgy way to fix it is to create a div which contains a transparent .png file the same size as the ad which links where you want it to go. You can the move it into place using CSS.

Alternatively you could just link the banner directly and position it in a similar fashion.

A 1x1 px png transparency would have the same effect sized with html (or css).

Why are you trying to do it this way? It's a peculiar approach.
