Still pretty dry on the carpentry front, there are one or two jobs a week I can apply for.

In early Jan I caught wind of a short term need at a local high tech company so I have been working there for just over two weeks now doing general labour/helping assemble their hardware. I should be good there for another week or two. It almost pays the bills and it is better than not working so I jumped on it. As fate would have it, my boss there knows a gentleman who is a carpenter and who lives off grid. My boss is going to put me in touch with this fellow when my time at the tech company is done.

It almost seems to good to be true, but I am trying to not get too excited as there is no guarantee that this carpenter is looking for help/actively working in my area/etc, etc. At the very least it is another contact to keep in touch with, however it does sound like this carpenter and I are of very like mindsets so I am really hoping something comes of it.

I am lining up a apartment painting gig for when the tech company work dries up. I should be able to do that piece work and hopefully cover my monthly expenses. A friend's father runs the company and he has contracts with a lot of the huge landlords in the city so there is always work painting apartments between renters. Hopefully I can stick with this until things pick up a bit more in the industry once winter is nearing an end.

If you have time and some funds look towards getting tickets. Heavy Machine operators for example are wanted/needed right now.

we have several members from Canada here, hopefully they can help, reach out to thewellhungarian,he is a member here and on the OG, he is in the oil business and in western canada but I am sure he knows all of the big construction companies in the provinces, it would be worth a shot

congratulations, I know it has been your goal for awhile now. It will be scary at times, you may fail, that is part of the challenge.

People in construction are going to look at you and think you are a idiot, why the hell would you give that up to swing a hammer, don't let that deter you.

Again, I would also recommend sending Hessian a pm, he is a man of many interests and had his own wood working shop at one point,he might have some good suggestions for you, in fact, I'm going to send him a link to this in a sec
