Well, I am officially a tradesman as of a few weeks ago, not in carpentry, but painting, which I am told is an official trade. :) On a side note, painting for profit is a great workout.

Still working on landing that carpentry gig, and have a few leads, but nothing solid yet. My resume and contact info have been passed onto the off grid gentleman, and I have found out his is one of the top custom cabinet guys in the county, and he is hiring in the spring.

The guy I am painting for now is friends with the owner of a property management company that also does renovations on their units as they turn over and he passed on my information and put in a good word for me.

My neighbour is having reno work done on their place right now so yesterday I went over and spoke with the owner of the company who was on site and mentioned I was looking to get into carpentry and asked if he needed a hand. He says he has work lined up for the next few months and a larger job starting in a couple weeks that he might need a hand with. He took my info and told me to call him in about a week if he did not get back to me.

The industry should be picking up soon so it is my hope I can land something in the next few weeks. I am getting a bit worries, but have to keep reminding myself that it hasnt even been two months, and the industry is a bit seasonal.

I have been applying to a few jobs as they are posted, but I really feel like if it is going to happen it will be via a connection, as that is the way things tend to go.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that within a month from now I will have landed something.

If anyone is still interested in my ongoing saga I landed a job that start on Monday with a local contractor.  He does a lot of interlock brick, but also kitchen/bath/basement reno work.  It think I will be doing a lot of interlock for the next few months but hope to get some shots at the reno work as well.

One step closer.  Can't stop, won't stop.
