I think that it is possible and more states may start looking into this. Japan is set to devalue the Yen at a rapid pace. Here is an article that shows what would happen to the economy around the world(would the current Fiat system survive? Do we want it to?).

Also a very interesting quote in there from an unnamed senior member of the Obama administration “we’re just going to kill the dollar.”

You can do a quick google search and find much more info on the Yen issue. It's not feasible to pay back this debt especially at the rate we keep spending so "killing the dollar" seems very realistic.

Why the go back to the gold standard tho. Isn't there better systems out there? Can't we do what Lincoln did with the Greenbacks. Put congress in charge of printing and distributing the currency.
