There was a situation here in Maine over the weekend where a man followed a 11 year old boy into the bathroom in walmart and starting taking pictures of the boy, the boy went right to someone and told them, he has 8 convictions including the rape of a 12 year old boy in 98, he spent 2 years in Jail
A Newport man was arrested Monday night after allegedly trying to take pictures of a child in the bathroom of a Walmart in Palmyra.
Marc Alberi, 46, is charged with possession of sexually explicit material of a child under the age of 12, a class C felony, according to Lt. Mark Brooks of the Maine State Police.
Investigators say Alberi used his cellphone camera to take photos and video of an 11-year-old boy at a urinal in the restroom. The boy reported the incident to the Walmart security team, according to a press release from Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland.
The State Police Computer Crimes Unit seized a laptop and cellphone from Alberi, and obtained a search warrant for Alberi’s Elm Street home in Newport, said Brooks.
He was arrested Monday night and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
Alberi is a registered sex offender with eight convictions of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact. Lt. Scott Duff is the leading investigator and it is possible there may be more charges, said Brooks.

My son is very afraid of predatory bears. Understandable living in NJ, I know.
Seriously though, I feel bad, but I to try to teach him situational awareness. I point out when things dont look right and ask him if he thinks this guy or that guy look trustworthy. I dont want him to grow up not trusting anyone, but I dont want him to be oblivious either. It's a fine line that's hard to manage.

It really is a fine line. I grew up way too trusting and had problems because of it. I don't think I did a good enough job as a parent where this is concerned. There are a lot of really bad people out there and our kids are the most vulnerable.
Dont feel bad. I applaud you.

It's not just the bears. You gotta watch out for the Twinks too. (sorry, I couldn't resist)
A few years ago, I was in the middle of telling my son, "NEVER EVER let anyone take you out of a store. You fight, kick, bite, scream, anything you need to do. You fight like your life depends on it, because . . ." Yeah, I never finished the sentence. Thought it was a little to harsh for a 6 year old.
