When couples break up, they often split up the possessions they jointly own.

But a heartbroken German who isn't taking his breakup well made an extra effort to divide the communal property right down the middle — literally.

"Thank you for 12 beautiful years, Laura. You really earned half," user "Der Juli" wrote in German in the opening footage of a viral YouTube video showing him sawing up their shared things with power saws and a grinder.

In the video, the couple's unsuspecting dining room chairs, their innocent flat panel TV, a Mac laptop, yes, even their pickup truck were severed in two with a precision that Solomon would have appreciated.

Of course, the breakup premise could be spurious, in which case the video simply shows a guy destroying stuff with power tools. But hoax or not, it has generated over 1.8 million page views since it was posted on June 16.

Metro UK identified the jilted German as a man named Martin, who told a reporter: "My wife left me after 12 years of marriage to be with a friend.

"I was really angry, so I cut up everything and sent her half. I put the rest on eBay as a joke and a message for Laura. Now it's everywhere on the Internet, it's crazy."

An eBay page hawking items for sale by a "der.Juli" shows numerous sawed items, including the truck, TV, phone, a bike and even an unfortunate stuffed bear surgically severed from teddy head to teddy butt.

There's no word on what Laura intends to do with her half. But we guess she's not regretting her decision to dump Martin.
