They finally caught him
CANADENSIS, Pa. (CBS) — Pennsylvania State Police say they have apprehended a man they say ambushed and killed one Pennsylvania state trooper and left another wounded.
Eric Frein, 31, was taken into police custody Thursday.
Sources tell CBS 3 Eyewitness News U.S. Marshals arrested Frein as he tried to enter a building in the Poconos. Sources say he was taken into custody without any resistance.
Authorities say Frein used a high-powered rifle to kill Cpl. Bryon Dickson and wound Trooper Alex Douglass outside the state police barracks in Blooming Grove on September 12th.
Frein’s capture followed a lengthy intense manhunt to track him down.
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett says Frein’s grudge was only with those who wear a badge.
“There were unarmed civilians right in the exact same location during the course of the shooting [at the Blooming Grove barracks], and he chose not to shoot at them,” Corbett said during a September 22nd news conference.
Frein was placed on the FBI’s most wanted list after the deadly ambush.
