They're actually airing at least one other take. It goes almost identically to this one but is shorter and the dog gets his back leg up to climb on the table but slips and the commercial ends.

I really want to see the outtakes. Probably lots of laughing and cursing.

I love watching the faces of the actors as they remain frozen trying not to react to the spectacle.

I had come across the "Dad's" youtube channel in the search results. He has some related news footage but I didn't think to look at the comments.

A few quotes from the "Extended Cut" comments (1st video I posted)...

I play the DAD in the funny new Geico Unskippable Family commercial. It was so much fun to work on and the kids did an amazing job! It was difficult to keep a straight face and not laugh with BOLT in your face eating all the food! The only thing we were allowed to move, while frozen, were our eyes. "This Geico ad is the greatest Geico ad that the Geico ad team ever made."

Good job keeping that 1960's over the top smile frozen. The kids did great also. Your "wife" is 1960's hot". Did they have a backup Bolt, to eat the next 10 pounds of spaghetti, in case of a meltdown ? What does this type of gig pay ? Do you receive royalties if it's a long runner ? Was that gluten free spaghetti ? Do I ask too many questions ?

They did have 2 dogs "Bolts" ready to eat, but only used one during the shoot. The dog did not eat that much spaghetti. He only ate off all the plates on the last take - which was the Extended Cut everyone is watching. All the the other takes he just ate off my plate. I am not sure if it was Gluten Free, maybe. Thanks for watching and share it will all your friends!

Did they put dog treats or anything in the food? Or was the dog just trained to do that

Todd Nasca 1 month ago
Hi ZoCupcake - Bolt was actually trained to eat spaghetti for a week before we shot the commercial. There were no treats on the table just meatballs and spaghetti. Only on the last take did Bolt get up and eat all of food on the table. Otherwise, he just ate my plate on every take. It was so much fun - glad you enjoyed the commercial!!

Thanks for watching Ebolacrash! It was really difficult to not to laugh - having a BIG dog like BOLT in your face is something you don't experience everyday. Especially at the dinner table! The kids saved the day!!
