remember this video?
A former CFO is now on food stamps after a video he posted on YouTube two and half years ago criticizing Chick-Fil-A went viral and destroyed his career.
Adam Smith, 37, was the CFO of a medical device manufacturer in Arizona, until the summer 2012, when he -- and thousands of other people -- started protesting against Chick-Fil-A for the fast-food chain’s anti-gay stance.
One day, Smith decided to go through the drive-thru at his local Chick-Fil-A, where he ordered a free water -- the fast food chain offers customers free water -- and videotaped himself telling the drive-thru attendant how much he despised Chick-Fil-A.
“Chick-Fil-A is a hateful corporation,” Smith said, in part, to the drive-thru attendant. “I don’t know how you live with yourself and work here. I don’t understand it. This is a horrible corporation with horrible values. You deserve better.”
Smith then posted the video on his personal YouTube channel, but when he got back to work, he received a major shock.
“I got into work and the receptionist, the first thing, big eyes, ‘Adam, what did you do?’ ... she said, ‘The voicemail is completely full, and it’s full of bomb threats,’” Smith said in an exclusive interview with ABC News' "20/20."

Spin much ABC News???

Chick-Fil-A has no stance for or against homosexuality. Even the CEO doesn't have an "anti-gay stance". He's just against marriage equality. And Adam Smith gets what he deserves for his sheer stupidity.

At first I wanted to post a pic of Matt Serra, then I thought "I feel bad for his family". His kids couldn't help their dad decided to join the social media narcissists and film himself picking on the lowest paid person at an "evil" corporation.
Then I felt bad for Adam, because two years of unemployment seems a bit harsh for what amounts to a harmless video. No one was hurt, the drive through worker probably just rolled her eyes after he left. Then I watched the video again, especially the minute or two before he pulls up to the window. Adam is a smug asshole. He probably, two years later, is still a smug asshole. Adam is still a narcissist. I would just want to move on if I was in the situation, but he wants to whine on 20/20 and write a memoir, as if his experience and self discovery is groundbreaking or even the least bit interesting.
Adam could probably get a job. Adam's probably waiting for the perfect CFO job with millions in stock options, and his ego won't let him accept anything less.

Great article on public "shaming" in the digital age. It really sheds a new light on the whole "craze". I still have no sympathy for Adam Smith though. I'm very conscious of stuff I post on both social media and public forums. I don't want to end of a victim of a "shame fest" or a lynch mob. The lynch mob mentality on the UG had really turned me off several years ago.
