Autumn Allen, a 13-year-old singer born in the United States, was separated from her mother after moving to Cambodia with her father when she was just six years old.

On Mother’s Day this year she was invited onto a Cambodian TV show with the promise of seeing her mother for the first time in years.

But that quickly turned into a cruel joke.

Instead of her mother appearing before the tearful girl, a man dressed in drag arrived from backstage and kissed her on the cheek while the audience laughed.
