so the maroon one above we didn't even bid on, it was in the far back of the list and would have been one of the last cars pulled in, plus when we went to look at it, it wouldn't even start
but there were several other subarus, and we narrowed it down to three
this 2003 forest green, it was inspected and around 120,000 miles. It was loaded and sweet. I told my friend 2500 was my max
they pulled it in and the bid went to 2700 immediately, I think someone had inside info on the minimum, looking back, we should have thrown 2800 at it and seen what happened, the car was outstanding
the two other cars came on the block at the same time, they had two different lanes going
this 2002 forrester with 160,000. It was loaded, moon roof, power everything, very clean
and this 2000 outback, 150,000 miles
I told my friend 1800 would be my max for each
The silver quickly went to 2000 and stayed there, the auctioneer said there was a 2500 reserve, would anyone want to meet it, no one did
the white one started at 700 and went back and forth, till I heard 1600, sold, I looked at my friend and he said congrats, you just bought a car.
Need to get it inspected, timing belt was changed 20,000 ago, so that's good, head gasket looks original, so that hasn't been a issue, which they say usually is around 80,000 if it goes, overall, it was a good day
this one was a shocker though, no one even bid on it and the auctioneer himself threw a bid of 2000 and no one countered, I should have bought it and flipped it
I think I might start going to more of them next year with him, just looking to flip, I'm allowed to do 5 a year before I would need a dealer license
Anyone else do that?
I think the mini had 120,000, it was a 03 I believe.
So I had the garage across the street look at it for inspection, they say it needs a new rear subframe, Subaru had a recall in 2003 due to improper undercoating, so this is a issue with them, local used parts place has a used one for 275 from a southern car, Subaru dealer in Bangor has brand new for 399. And it needs rear brakes, not sure of just pads or rotors as well, waiting for them to call me with a estimate, we will probably just do it ourselves.
Good job, K. Is that for your daughter? I wanted a mini pretty bad as a commuter car for for D but they go for too much money and are expensive to maintain. You could've sold that mini here in Nashua for 5-6k, easy. I want to go to an auction and check one out. Never been but have always been interested.
yeah, I use to have a older model, drive train was bullet proof, it's the body that was the issue, looking underneath, that rear sub frame was the only issue, but it's basically disassembling the whole rear end to replace it, newsettler and my father are headed over now to start replacing it, there is a very tiny anti-freeze leak, but I can't see where it's coming from, there was a huge amount of work done on the engine, so I think I'm going to flush the radiator and add the coolant conditioner made for subarus that is suppose to help with issues like this

pretty good break down of the process
