surprised with the verdict, thought for sure they were going with manslaughter when they asked for more clarification on it, I just saw Jesse Jackson say they were going to ask the DOJ to file federal charges because trayvon wasn't given justice by a jury of his peers, um what?

The whole trial was just a massive clusterf**k.

The scarier thing is that the supporters of his self defense claim believe that he did NO wrong at all and that his actions are universally accepted across the country. They are not. The armchair attorneys really came out in full force here.

it shows (1) how much the legal system has cowed the populace and (2) how rational discourse among people is not an option in most of our society.

As little as two decades ago, it would not have been unusual to have found concerned citizens that would have gotten out of a vehicle and confronted or maintained a close eye on suspicious persons in their neighborhood....especially during a rash of crimes. when i was a youngster, if a group of us simply cut through someone else's property the owner would have come out and asked who the hell are you and what the hell do you think you're doing. We didn't try to stomp the property owner and we didn't curse, yell or make threats. hell, back then a neighbor would have brought you home to your parents and an buttocks warming would have followed.

now...not so much. many citizens are scared of violence, of what will happen, of what we will be called, of getting sued. so now everyone relies on the police to do their dirty work and take the heat. gives folks an easy way out, they don't have to get involved, and it gives them someone to blame when the outcomes don't go as planned.

I wasn't there and neither was anyone i know. to hell with the media and armchair quarterbacks. They both have agendas up the yazoo.

And the monkey presses the button.

I would like to see a civil case against msnbc for their role in misrepresenting the truth. Not that that is new in any way.
