Here's the thing, if you eat a lot of red vines, it will mimic the lower gi bleed color. Drink a blue power aid, and you have green poop. Eat a bag of oreos, and it is black. The bleeds at least also have specific characteristics and odors.

true story, wife bought red velvet cheesecake a couple years ago, ate half of it, almost went to emergency room, thought I was dying

It can vary through diet as well, so before panicking wait 24 hours ad see if there is a change.

You see, I have an allergy called "beeteria" - which is common - that prevents me from digesting the natural coloring of beets. No other symptoms. Just simply cannot digest the coloring, it has no ill effects.

Anyways I did a juice cleanse, and one day realized I lie beet juice. Later in the day? I piss and crap what looks like pure blood. Panicked, left work, sprinted to urgent care, and after a bunch of tests, and revealing I drank a bunch of juices with beet in them waited 12 hours and it stopped.

I have also pooped the jet black from too much black beans, and green from too much greens.
