Unbelievable

Back in November, Ottawa U banned its free Yoga class because of 'cultural appropriation'. Now, it's returned. But something – or rather, someone is missing.

Jennifer Scharf, a white woman, had been teaching the free class since 2008. When she got the news last year that the class had been canceled she was shocked and saddened.

“People are just looking for a reason to be offended by anything they can find,” she said.

The decision to cancel the class came from student leaders. Staff at the Centre for Students with Disabilities said in an email that “while yoga is a really great idea and accessible and great for students ... there are cultural issues of implication involved in the practice... Yoga has been under a lot of controversy lately due to how it is being practiced.”

Now the class is back with an Indian teacher, Priya Shah.

looks like someone is smartening up

A code of conduct at Southwest Minnesota State University that banned “cultural intolerance” and demeaning jokes was revised after the rules were accused of hindering students’ free speech rights.

In November, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education criticized Southwest Minnesota State University’s regulations, which prohibited “cultural intolerance” and added “any verbal or physical contact directed at an individual or group such as racial slurs, jokes, or other behaviors that demean or belittle a person’s race, color, gender preference, national origin, culture, history or disability, is prohibited.”

“SMSU is a public university, which means it cannot lawfully maintain policies—such as this one—that violate students’ First Amendment right to free speech,” FIRE pointed out.

“Under SMSU’s policy, any speech or expression that another student subjectively finds ‘demeaning’ or ‘belittling’ is subject to punishment. And on today’s college campus, where students increasingly demand the right to emotional comfort, that often includes a tremendous amount of speech, including the expression of unpopular views on political and social issues,” FIRE added.

University officials took a closer look at the policy and subsequently revised it.

The term “cultural intolerance” is no longer found in its current Prohibited Code of Conduct, and “discriminatory harassment” is now defined as “verbal or physical conduct that is directed at an individual because of his or her protected class, and that is sufficiently severe, pervasive, or persistent so as to have the purpose or effect of creating a hostile work or educational environment.”

Another comedian will no longer perform at colleges

John Cleese said he will no longer perform or give talks at university campuses because political correctness has taken over.

The Monty Python star revealed that he has been advised not to perform to students as the fear of offending has expanded so far that any kind of criticism is now seen as "cruel".

Mr Cleese said it is down to people who cannot control their emotions, so seek to control others, and worries that it could lead to a society like that in the iconic dystopian Orwell Novel.

Maher summed it up perfectly

Comedian Bill Maher told politically correct “idiots” on Friday that they shouldn’t be lecturing Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Larry the Cable Guy on comedy.

The HBO “Real Time” host noted how all three successful comedians have recently lamented a “new brand of censorship” adopted by American culture.

“You know, when Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, and Larry the Cable Guy say you have a stick up your [expletive], you don’t have to wait for the X-rays to come back. That’s right, a black, a Jew and a redneck all walk onto a college campus and they all can’t wait to leave.”

Many people get all upset in public when someone is not PC...but when you see the Chris Rock or a lot of other Comedians they are anything but PC and the theater is always packed.  Most people pick and choose when they will be 'offended'...other's are just always a victim and oppressed in their own minds.

Last year we were looking to fill a higher end position...1 candidate stood out...I voted to hire her...the Director (a woman) said we couldn't hire 'that' woman, because she is pregnant and would be going out on maternity leave just when we really need her...that is just wrong in today's world...My boss hired another person and that person ended up quitting  after 4 weeks...nice.

I'm pretty sure that is a violation the EEOC, hope the Director didn't communicate that to the woman as a reason.
