Unbelievable

SENATOBIA, MS -- A Mississippi family faces charges, all because they cheered for a loved one as she got her high school diploma, reports television station WREG.

The girl's father, aunt and two relatives are charged with disturbing the peace. Police say the crowd was warned before graduation not to cheer or clap until all students received their diploma.

But when Lanarcia Walker walked across the stage as a graduate of Senatobia High School, her father says he could not hold in his pride and yelled, "You did it, baby!'

At first, they were asked to leave the ceremony, but they say a week or two later, they learned the school superintendent filed disturbing the peace charges and warrants were issued for their arrests.

"I mean, it's crazy," said parent Henry Walker. "The fact that I might have to bond out of jail, pay court costs, or a $500 fine for expressing my love, it's ridiculous man. It's ridiculous."

The school superintendent wouldn't go on camera, but says he's determined to have order at the graduations.

It seems that vid started as someone was being escorted out.....if that's the whole thing, however, then there is a problem.  Wonder what the PC on the warrant indicated. if that's the whole thing, it took a chicken sh** magistrate to issue those warrants.

And the monkey presses the button.

looks like the charges have been dropped

SENATOBIA, Miss. — WREG has confirmed the charges have been dropped against the people who cheered at the Senatobia High School graduation.

WREG brought you the story last week of how the pomp and circumstance did not last long for some Mississippi families.

“He said ‘you did it baby’, waived his towel and went out the door,” Walker explained.

“When she went across the stage I just called her name out. ‘Lakaydra’. Just like that,” Ursula Miller said she shouted about her niece.

Miller and Henry Walker were two of the four people asked to leave Senatobia High School’s graduation ceremony for cheering.

Police at Northwest Mississippi Community College, where the high school ceremony was held, said the superintendent asked the crowd not to scream and to hold their applause until the end.

Otherwise, they would be asked to leave.

However, that wasn’t the end of it.

“A week or two later, I was served with some papers,” Miller explained.

The papers threatened to throw them in jail.

Senatobia Municipal School District Superintendent Jay Foster filed ‘disturbing the peace’ charges against the people who yelled at graduation.

Officers issued warrants for their arrests with a possible $500 bond.

“It’s crazy,” Henry Walker said. “The fact that I might have to bond out of jail, pay court costs, or a $500 fine for expressing my love, it’s ridiculous man. It’s ridiculous.”

Superintendent Foster said the charges were far from ridiculous.

While Foster declined an on-camera interview with WREG, he said he’s determined to have order at graduation ceremonies.

Uhh huh.  Superintendent got pressure from above I'd wager.  I attended a graduation today and the administrator gave the same please hold your hootenanny speech until all the children had a chance to get their names announced and walk.

Guess how well that worked with some of the attendees.

Some scum buckets ignored it and screamed through other children's names and achievements.  Typical.

I still say I'd like to see the entire vid of the Mississippi incident.  Id wager we missed a poo throwing session.

And the monkey presses the button.
