Some of these things are not the prettiest looking cases, thats for sure. But I like the idea of them a lot and for the price you pay for these phones now days, why not have a good quality protective case on it. You can find them on Amazon for much less.

I looked at the otterbox for my iphone, but I had a few friends who had the lifeproof case and they gave it high marks. It was expensive in comparison to others but it had the added benefit of being completely waterproof. The iphone was my first smart phone and I installed the case the day after I got the phone. I am not happy with the volume of the speaker or the volume of the ringer. Not sure if it’s the phone or the case though. Having said all that I like the idea of it being completely waterproof and that was the big selling point. The otter box would have been my second choice.

I got my wife a lifeproof case. She really likes it but can't use headphones with her phone. The jack won't go in deep enough. I use otterbox defenders. I'm in construction and have zero scratches on my phone. Problem is the plastic protective cover on the otter box scrathes easily. I like my otterbox but would be open to another case. But no headphone use in the case has to be a no.
